Volunteer Trip to Vakhnivka
This past Thursday, Ira and some of our volunteer team had a blessed visit to the village of Vakhnivka. Our volunteer team visited displaced people, military families, families with many children, and the needy. During their visit, they distributed humanitarian food boxes provided by the Mennonites and hygiene kits provided by Catalyst for Kids. Roma, one of our regular volunteers, helped Ira by shopping for the hygiene kits.
Our volunteer team includes many adults who have been supported by Catalyst for Kids since they were children in Ukrainian orphanages. Now they’re living on their own, but have spent so long receiving support from CFK that they are motivated to give back.
One particularly memorable visit was a family whose two sons (23 and 16 years old) died in a car accident near Vinnytsia just 2 days before the visit. The team was able to comfort the family and provide them with gifts from CFK and the Mennonites. They visited a hospital which hosts displaced people and a young girl named Eva who has cerebral palsy. She was so bright and sincere and could not believe that all the guests and gifts she received were a reality!
They then had a history lesson about the tragic death of the Jews of the village of Vakhnivka during the Second World War. They went on this trip not knowing what to expect, but the Lord blessed the day and everything went perfectly!
Thank you to everyone who helps to make such trips possible. For your help and prayers, for your desire to serve God and your neighbor through the hearts and hands of our volunteer team!
